How to replace straight quotes with smart quotes in existing document
I have a Word 2013 document with straight quotes. I want to convert all quotes to smart quotes. Autoformat works fine as I type, but it does nothing to fix the quotes that already exist. Help, please. |

Simply use a Find/Replace, where:
Find = " Replace = "

Thanks, Paul. Replacing " with " is not intuitive, but it works.

I tried this, to no avail. Why doesn't this work for me? Is there a special character code to enter in the replace field for the smart quotes? I already had the autocorrect set to smart quotes (instead of French guillemets) before I started on my translation, but they came out straight anyway. I am using a French AZERTY keyboard, but with the language set to US English. I hoped to correct it afterwards but neither search & replace nor a VBA code I found on another forum seem to work.
Thanks in advance for any help! Dagmara |

That suggests there is something wrong with your autocorrect settings. Did you confirm that the option is checked for both 'autoformat as you type' and 'autoformat'?
