Default How do you paste a graph from Excel into Word as picture without line appearing?

I have been pasting Excel tables and graphs into Word as part of report writing for years with no problem, using the Office 2010 suite. After "graduating" from Office 2010 to Office 2013 I discovered that when I paste in a graph as picture it puts a horizontal line across the bottom of the image. I have tried cropping it out without success. I realize that I can paste graphics and tables as embedded worksheets, etc. but want to paste as a picture so that I can resize, wrap text, etc. in a report. Ideas?

Do you mean it's like a bottom border?

Default Table Tools

Hello - I have Word 2010, so it might be a bit different and I hope I interpreted your question correctly.

After pasting info from Excel into World, highlight the info by clicking the box on the top left corner grid. Go to the highlighted Table Tools tab on the top right of the ribbon. Go to the Layout tab. Then click the second option from the left 'View Gridlines'.

Let me know if I even got close to answering your question.

Have a great day!

Stefan - It isn't a chart border, it is more like a ghost line that shows up at the bottom of the pasted picture element. But it doesn't appear every time.

nakempton - Thanks for the suggestions. Office 2013 options are a little different. And because it is a picture the table tools and gridlines features don't come into play.

Does this "ghost" also print?

It's most likely a compression artefact. Try turning off Word's graphics compression (before inserting the charts). If that doesn't work, you'll need to crop the unwanted areas.

Default Charts in Word

macropod - thanks, I hadn't thought about that. So far no issues with the compression turned off. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Thanks for the follow-up. (And thanks to Paul for figuring it out!)

Hi Stefan,

It's a fairly common problem with inserting any form of graphical content into Word. It seems the MS compression engine has a few significant shortcomings.

I guess I have been lucky, because I have never seen it. Of course, I don't work much with pictures.
