Default Word 2010 Field widths from linked Excel data.

Hi everyone,

This is my first post, and I have searched for a solution before posting but that search has proved to be unsuccessful.

I have a Word Document with linked Excel Fields that are incorporated into a report (past special as Linked Unformatted). My problem is that one of the fields (as seen in the screenshot linked below) as 'Tuesday 1 January 2013' has extra space at the end of the field that pushes the text in front of it. I've tried everything to get the field to be like the date field before it (Sunday 1 January 2012) without any spaces, but just can't seem to get rid of those extra spaces.

I've tried re-pasting, I've tried reformatting the Excel cell to make it text, even, in desperation, applied TRIM to the text field, and yet I still get the extra spaces. I also notice that SOME of the other numeric linked fields also have a single extra front an back space, but the 'Ģ777,398.02' doesn't have any. There seems to be no rhyme or reason as to the spacing in the fields.

I would be extremely grateful if anyone could kindly offer a solution.

With many thanks

DPB

When you use a field to link from Word to Excel, you get all of the data in the Excel cell. Evidently some of your Excel cells have extra white space in them. The link fields cannot remove that and Word doesn't have a TRIM field that could do the job. Consequently, you need to fix the issue at its source (i.e. in Excel).
