Default Word Document won´t print: taken over by Onenote

I tried to print a word document today and the printers that are usually available on my printer list were not listed. These were removed and replaced with a "Send to Onenote" printer symbol.

I recently started using Onenote and this is the first time i noticed this occurance.

How do I get my usual printer connenctions to return and stop Onenote from taking over the printer choices?

Mike D.

It seems like the OneNote got set as the default printer to print document.
Follow this method to fix this issue:
  • Open the Control Panel .
  • Find the printer you want to use .
  • Right click it and choose "Set as default printer".
I hope it may work for you.

It did a bit more than change the default printer. It removed all the printers I normally use. I can not even reload the softwear now.

It might not be the fault of one note itself however. I tried to install some old software that ran on an XP machine and the associated softwear to run it. Perhaps one note saw this as an opportunity to take over.

Did you try to uninstall the OneNote? Try to remove it and check the issue again.

Here is the process to remove it.
  • Go on Start > Control Panel > Programs and Features.
  • Now find MS Office in the list of programs.
  • Click the "Change" link and wait for Office to do the set up.
  • Select "Add or Remove Features" in the list of options and click Continue.
  • Select OneNote from the list. Right click it and select "Not Available", then click continue again.
  • When it is done, OneNote would be removed from your computer.
