Tab and paragraph marks do not appear in Word 2013

Hi All,

I am having a little issue with Word 2013. It could be a bug in the software but it seems to be related to documents (a lot of documents)

Anyways it is that the tab and paragraph marks in the ruler do not appear in the document. I have taken a screenshot of this (without.jpg).

When creating a new document the marks are there, also it is there when I open some documents (with.jpg).

Does anyone have any ideas.
