Word Changes File Name When Opened
The following problem occurs only when Word files are opened in only one of my many folders. When the file is opended Word changes the file name to a generic "Document 1". When the file is closed a new name must be given. Using Word 2003 and Windows 7. Never had that happen before.

What that suggests is that you're opening a template, not a document. Templates have .dot(x/m) extensions, whereas documents have .doc(x/m) extensions.
