extra space when I cross-reference a table or figure
Hi there,
I am having a trouble when I cross reference a table or a figure in the text, an extra space is added and sometimes the figure/table reference goes to next line. Example, I wanted to say see Fifure 5.5. But as you can see the the field went to next line. ---------------- of inquiry, see Figure 5.5. ------------ Some times just extra space is added before the word Table or Figure e.g -------Table 5.4 (---- here means space) The document is just 300 pages and this issue happen in several pages. How can I fix once and for all? Please help. |

Word's cross-reference feature makes use of hidden bookmarks enclosing each cross-referenced paragraph. The problem with these hidden bookmarks is that you can easily expand them by pressing Enter, or adding content, at the beginning of a cross-referenced paragraph. When this happens (and it may be what has happened in your document), recreate the cross-reference.
To avoid the problem in the future, always add content at the end of the previous paragraph instead.
