Default Cannot delete Page numbers in one footer section without affecting others

Hello,

I have an odd problem where I have three "sections" in my document, and whenever I modify the page # in the footer of section 2, the page # in the footers of section 2 get modified as well.

Here is a screenshot of the current situation in Word 2010:

We can see that Section 2 has a page number of "a.", and that Section 3 has page numbers of "1." and "2.". The problem is if I delete the page number in Section 2, the page numbers also disappear from Section 3 as well. I do NOT want section 2 to display page numbers, but I can't seem to just delete the page number in that section.

I do have the 6-page document here available for download, if you'd like to see the document firsthand (the fonts and such may be off though, because it uses a template)

Does anybody know how I can delete/hide the page numbers in Section 2, without affecting the page numbers in the footers of Section 3?

Go to page 1 (Section 3), open the footer, click on 'Link to Previous' on the Ribbon, so this section is no longer linked to the previous one. You can now modify/delete the page # in either section without affecting the other one.
