Default Word 2007 (Windows XP) - slow and laggy with images

Hi all,

I've just changed PCs in work and find that Word now doesn't cope very well with editing / moving images. For example, if I take a screenshot and then crop it - the movement is jerky and laggy, making it difficult to get right.

Are there any settings within Word which I could tweak to improve this please? I also seem to get a similar thing in Outlook.
Or is it an issue with the PC (RAM or something else?)

Thanks for any help you can give!

It could be a RAM issue; or it could be a display (printer) driver issue. Is your printer driver up-to-date?

I think I have between 3 and 4 GB of RAM

Not sure how to check whether the printer drivers are up-to-date - is anyone able to tell me how to check this please?

The easiest thing is to go to a website for your printer and simply download the latest driver.

BTW, 3-4 Gb of RAM should be enough.

Some other thoughts:

check for any add-ins. Often these are badly written and cause major headaches. Try disabling ALL add-ins and see if that makes a difference.

Does your document has a lot of graphics? That can cause problems, although you have to have a LOT.

Thank you very much!

I'll try to find and download the printer drivers later - although I suspect that the company's security measures might block this (worth a try though!)

The only add-in I have enabled is "Person Name (Outlook e-mail recipients)", Word doesn't seem to let me disable this one.

The file had only one screenshot in, so that probably (hopefully) doesn't count as a lot!
