Default Paste Special and PDF

I'm attempting to insert the contents of a PDF file into a word document. I'm going about this by copying the contents of the PDF to the clipboard and then going to Paste Special in Word and pasting it as a picture. The content comes out formatted correctly, but it only seems to paste the first page even though I had copied the entire file.

This may not be the most efficient way to insert a PDF into word, but I need to find a method of doing this that does not involve using a third party program.

I'm assuming the issue is user error and was wondering if anyone would be able to point out what I might be doing wrong? Thanks

Pasting in an object into Word will always show only the first page. Alternatively, you can embed an object and display it as an icon, in which case people could double-click the icon and have the document open in Adobe Reader, or whatever PDF reader they prefer.

You will have to copy and paste page by page or use OCR software to bring the PDF into Word, in an editable format.

What do you mean by content? if I use Select all on a 26-page .pdf, and then copy/paste into Word, I get the text from all 26 pages. The clipboard does not contain any of the document images, so I don't get Paste as picture as an option. I can select an individual image from the .pdf, then copy/paste it into Word.

If I had to get all the images into Word, I'd use the Acrobat "Export all images" option … luckily, I have Acrobat Pro. Don't know whether other Acrobat versions include this.

Stephan assumes, I suspect correctly, that the OP had an image pdf file rather than one that had text rendered by an OCR program.
