So here is my issue: I have a word document for a financial meeting. I have a cover page, table of contents and then the financial information with charts and headings. No problems with this information. However, when I go to insert page numbers at bottom of page Word puts a 1 on the cover page in the right hand bottom corner, then a 2 on the next page, then nothing for the rest of the pages. No numbers at the bottom right corner. The Table of contents is also showing incorrect page numbers on all of the topics. It starts with page 3 then a couple of topics below it shows page 1 when this topic is NOT on page 1 and it starts the page numbering over again. How do I fix this?



P.S. I have already tried creating a new Financial Document yet the new one is doing the same thing the old one is doing.

The first thing I'd suggest is displaying hidden characters, by clicking on the paragraph symbol in the Home tab, top right in the Paragraph group. This allows you to see section breaks. I suspect that there is one after your second page. If so, you can delete the page numbers from pages 1 and 2 without affecting the subsequent pages.

If wish to have page numbers in the rest of the document, starting in the footer on the third page, insert a page number field (Insert tab, page number) and set its properties to begin at 1. If there are more section breaks in the document further along, you may have to insert page numbers in each section as well.
