Default Easiest Way to Produce a Report/List of Tagged Text from Multiple Word Files

I have multiple Word files in which I have tagged some submittal information. I need to create a report of this tagged text, which file is appears in and which section in each file it appears in.

My "sections" are tagged as Headings 1, 2, or 3 styles.

Ultimately, I may have 50 files in one directory that I need to pull this information from into one list/TOC.

For example, my level 1 tag is { TA \1 "Pre-Construction Submittals" \c 1 } and my level 2 tag is { TA \2 "Manufacturer's Information" \c 2 }.

I will want a report to look something like the following:

Submittal Section Paragraph
Pre-Construction Submittals 02070 1.03
Manufacturer's Information 02070 1.03

Any suggestions? Or is there an easier way to tag/mark text in each Word file in order produce this sort of report.

If all of these were formatted using Word's Heading Styles, you could simply create a new document with a TOC field, followed by a series of RD fields, each pointing to a source document. The new document would then list all the headings and would update to reflect edits to the headings and the addition/deletion of headings.

I had thought about that, but the text I want to appear in the report is tagged, not heading styles. The headings are the locations that I want to list for each tagged instance.

Thanks for pointing out the RD fields.

I take it from the above that "Submittal Section Paragraph" is a Heading. But then you appear to have tags at two different levels below it, designated by TA \1 & TA \2. So how, if at all, does a heading level relate to tag levels?

Also, what do the "02070 1.03" in the output represent and how are they to be obtained.

Finally, re:

Where do the file data go? There's no apparent file identifier in your output.

That Submittal Section Paragraph was just my way of showing the three categories that I need to pull into my report. Those are not headings. Sorry for the confusion.

All I really need is a customizable macro that I can tell to pull certain information from files in a certain directory on my server.

You still haven't addressed the other two issues I raised:
