Draft view: center text on screen
Is there a way to center the text in draft view instead of leaving it on the left of the screen?
This in full screen would be perfect. Thanks |

What you can do is display the text lines across the width of the document window, in Draft view. On the File tab, click Options. In the Advanced category, select "Show text wrapped within the document window" (found under "Show document content") and then click OK.

Well, can I then control the text width?

Only by resizing the document window, I'm afraid.

Another option, which you probably won't like, is to drag the left border of the document window right-wards till the left side of the text is where you want it.

I already given up, but thanks for the effort. It's not possible to move the right border, so no use adjusting the left.

Success!
Sort of.... I've been looking for something like this for years, finally had inspiration and found a solution this morning that might be acceptable: Options > Advanced > Style area pane width... Set it to, say, 10cm. Close options and then manually position as you like by dragging Double bonus is it can help a little in organising styles (although i feel this could have been implemented a little better) Gonna use this all the time now. |

Of course, you could accomplish the same thing by docking a pane, such as the Styles pane (Ctrl+Alt+Shift+S), to the left side of the window and resize the pane until the document ends up where you want it.

Office 2007
For those still using -- -- Office 2007, please go: HOME BUTTON > ADVANCED > SHOW DOCUMENT CONTENT

Perhaps you could explain what that has to do with this thread's topic? Neither Word 2007 nor any other Word version has an option to centre the page display in Draft view.

Anyways, my post applies to the question above about centering in Draft View (which is indeed possible in Word 2007), except that it modifies some information for users of Office 2007. Last edited by mwidunn; 07-18-2016 at 04:41 PM. Reason: clarification |

But there is nothing like a 'center page on screen' option under 'Show Document Content'! Sure, you can tell it to wrap (or not) the text to the document window (as has previously been discussed), but that has nothing to do with centring the page display. It also messes around with display such that you can no longer see where the printed lines would actually wrap. To deal with that, you'd then have to resize the document window...
