PS: another thing that's happening is I paste an image and it extends beyond the end of the file so I can't resize it at all. Thanks again.

If you paste or format the images as in-line with text, they won't overlap. You can also drag images that do overlap to different positions. Unchecking the images' 'Allow Overlap' property (via Picture tools>Wrap Text>More layout options>Position) may also solve your problem.

Start by formatting them both as in-line with text. Then set them to position where you want them.

Thank you. I don't see an option to paste inline though and I don't see a Picture tools menu in the main menus?

OK now I see what you mean--right click the image in word.

But one image still doesn't let me grab the bottom corner--it just trails off into an outline.

Yes, they're both inline with text now.

I'm not sure what you mean by 'it just trails off into an outline'. Perhaps you could explain.

Sorry, when I click on the image the full image is not displayed. it is a vertical image and I see about two thirds of it. Then when it is clicked I see a cm or two of empty right and left borders extending past what there is of the the image content. No bottom border is visible.

That suggests you may have inserted the image into a textbox or table cell that isn't large enough to display all of it. If so, enlarge the textbox or table cell; otherwise, you could attach the document to a post (delete anything sensitive) and I'll take a look at it. You do this via the paperclip symbol on the 'Go Advanced' tab at the bottom of this screen.

Well, it is all sensitive and I don't see a box or cell, but I did find Picture Tools--it appears in the top menu when you click an image. There I can resize the images by adjusting width and height numerically. That helps, thank you.

I still have unwanted white space above all inserted images--any advice? Thanks again.

Without seeing the document, it's really not possible to say what the issue is. It could be due to a large page header, empty paragraphs, excessive paragraph before spacing, etc.
