Default Making the heading 'Table of Figures' print only if there are entries

Hi!

I have a report template. We need to list figures (and tables) - which we are doing using in-built captioning, after the contents (TOC). Currently the TOC for the figures and tables is done with hidden text so they don't print unless there are relevant figures/tables captions to insert (which updates the field and it loses its 'hidden text' formatting).

Is there a way to make the headings (Table of Figures) do the same? At the moment you have to enter it in manually, or if the headings are left in the template they will print out regardless of any entries beneath them or not. I'd like to try and make it so if there are entries in the figures 'TOC' then a heading appears saying 'Figures'. Is that possible????

Thanks

You could use a field coded along the lines of:
{IF{ TOC \c "Figure" }= "?No*" "" "Table of Figures¶
{ TOC \c "Figure" }"}
where the ¶ is a real paragraph break, formatted in whatever Style you want for the 'Table of Figures' heading (you can change the text for that too, if you wish).

Note: The field brace pairs (ie '{ }') for the above example are all created in the document itself, via Ctrl-F9 (Cmd-F9 on a Mac); you can't simply type them or copy & paste them from this message. Nor is it practicable to add them via any of the standard Word dialogues.
