Hi all,
I am on WORD 2010 and I was wondering if anyone could help me with some macros/fields. Here's the basic premise of what I'm trying to do - I do a lot of work with documents that contain sequential numbers. Sometimes the numbers get messed up, and I want to set either a macro or a field to auto-update the numbers if one gets deleted or added. For example, I'm trying to create a document containing: ITEM NO. 1: ITEM NO. 2: ITEM NO. 3: If I have to delete the field "ITEM NO. 2:," I want NO. 3 to automatically update to NO. 2. How do I do this? I've been using Quick Parts to insert Fields, and creating: Seq \* Arabic \n, which works to quickly create the next item number, but the numbers do not autoupdate if I delete or add numbers in that mess up the sequence. Anyone have any tips on how to do this? Thank you!!! |

When you make use of SEQ fields, you will have to update the fields, for example by switching to Print Preview (Ctrl+F2) and then back to your previous view (ESC).
Alternatively, you can use auto numbering by setting up a numbered style.
