Question How to make a SPECIFIC FONT shortcut button?

Hi,

Is it possible to create a shortcut button of some kind on the ribbon so that one can select a given block of text in a Word doc, then click on that button and make the text instantly change to a specified font?

Most of my docs are written in Arial, but I often use Arial Black for headings as well as Times New Roman, and I would like to find a way to avoid having to go through the Font drop-down menu or using the Font pop-up menu. I also don't want to tie myself to a fixed Outline template/format.

Have already been trying to google this question, but no luck so far.

Thanks,
Eddie

In the Customize Keyboard dialog box, you can assign a keyboard shortcut to a specific font. Click Office button | Word Options | Quick Access Toolbar | Customize. Be sure to save the shortcut in the Normal template.

However, you will find it easier to change the default font to Arial and then specify the font you want for the heading styles, and use them to format the document consistently.

Aha!
I was warm before, but missed seeing the "Font" category in the scrolling menu box.

Thanks so much, Stefan.

I would strongly urge you to spend a bit of time learning Styles. You can modify the built-in ones and or create your own. Applying direct formatting (i.e. changing the Font in headings) can give you unwanted results in a Table of Contents.
