Default Automatic Page Numbering and Table of Contents

Hello experts,

I'm wondering if there is a way for the page numbers to update automatically for headings in the table of contents when making changes to the location of the heading itself.

Ex: Heading 1.4.2 was originally in page 5, also shown in the table of contents. If I decided this 1.4.2 belongs in the next page, how would I make it so it automatically updates it to page 6 in the table of contents as well as updating the rest of the page numbers if they are changed?

Thank you!

Regards,
Hallet

Update the table of contents

If you added or removed headings or other table of contents entries in your document, you can quickly update the table of contents.
  1. On the References tab, in the Table of Contents group, click Update Table.
  1. Click Update page numbers only or Update entire table.

Or, right-click on the TOC and tell it to update.
