Default Open Quickpart file normalemail.dotm - edit multiple building blocks

I double clicked on normalemail.dotm and it shows up nothing in word 2010...but I do see the quickparts in my outlook 2010...there are too many parts and i want to change my signature in every quick part...so I am assuming if I can open normalemail.dotm in word 2010 and can update my signatures..in all the quick part...Is word 2010 not compatible to open them...these quick parts are not made by me and I have no knowledge in how to open them ...I know how to update individual quick part in outlook...using save gallery and then keep changing the exact name..etc..Please help!

This is what one would expect. First, when you double-click on a template, it does not open, but rather a new document is created based on the template.

Why do you think that your email signatures are Word Quick Parts? They certainly are not building blocks. I do not believe signatures are stored in normalemail.dotm.

I told you how to open any template. The term "quick part" is sort of like "thingie." I do not know that what you are talking about is anything in Word. How is it that you believe that it is?

Did you save something in your normalEmail.dotm file? How? From Word or from Outlook?

No its not me but somebody has done it...they saved it...using word ...now I am not sure if they have done this individually for every quick part that is there in the template or if they have done it all together.

I know of nothing in the normalEmail.dotm file that contains "quick parts." What kind of quick part.

If you say something is a wrench, I do not know if it is a box wrench. I need to know what kind of wrench, what kind of quick part?

How do you use it in Outlook? What do you do to get access to it? What Ribbon buttons/menus?

Okay...For e.g you can compose an email with your formatting signature logo date timestamp etc then

1)Select All
2)Go to Insert Tab
3)Click on Quickparts
4)Scroll down and "Save selection to Quickpart Gallery"
5)Enter the name,gallery,category,description,savein,options
6)In Gallery you will select "Autotext , footers, headers, ........and Quickparts"
7)select Quickparts.
8)In Savein Select "Normalemail"
9)Options: based on your requirement.

So if you see there are almost 9 to 10 steps to add one quick part or you would building block...but when u right click on a quickpart and select "Organise and delete" ...we will be able to see the preview but wont be able to edit it directly...

OK, now I see the Insert Tab in the Outlook message window. If you are doing this from Word directly, normalEmail is not an available storage location. I think I understand what you want to do. I have supplemented the title of your post in the hope that others will have ideas.

There is no simple way in Word to edit a group of building blocks or AutoText entries at the same time. I expect that is even more true in Outlook. AutoText Manager by Chris Devrell might be of help. I don't know. Otherwise, something along the lines of Jay Freedman's AutoTextDumper / AutoTextLoader might work. That would get all of your entries into one document where they can be edited and then reloaded into QuickParts.

This will not be a small undertaking. Jay's utilities are designed only for menu versions of Word. They will not work, as written, with building blocks and multiple galleries. Another place to look is at the Enhanced organizer tools from Greg Maxey
.
