Hi, I've had a quick search and can't really find any answers.
I've created a template (MS Word 2010) with various styles for questions and answers with the idea that I write the answer sheet, save the document, then white-out the Answer style and save that as a copy. On brand new documents, this works a treat. However, when I copy text from an old version of this document into the template (pasting as plain text and work through the formatting page by page) when I change the Answer style to white. save it then re-open it, it reverts back to the original style. I know it must be something to do with something being brought across from the old, original document- I just have no idea what!? If it makes a difference, the old documents were most likely created in MS Word 2003 or below. Thanks in advance. |

On the Developer Tab in your old document, check the Document Template button.
Is the box checked to "Automatically update document styles" (from template)? You want this box unchecked. ![]() Understanding Styles in Microsoft Word |

You do not want to leave that option checked.
