Default Add command (not gallery) to quick access toolbar

I'd like to know if it's possible to add a particular command, rather than the "gallery" containing that command, to the quick access toolbar. So, for example, I know how to add the "change text color" gallery to the toolbar, so that I can click on the gallery in the toolbar and select a text color from the menu. But is there any way I can add a shortcut to the gallery that, say, automatically changes the text color to green (rather than defaulting to the last color used), and another shortcut to change text to red, etc. Or is the only option to add the gallery to the toolbar and select from there?

(I realize this specific example could be accomplished by creating styles that can be selected from the quick styles gallery, but I'd like to know if there's a general way to accomplish this, as not everything I'd like to add to the toolbar has to do with text formatting).

Thanks in advance for any advice.
