Question Opening two documents in the same window

I am very new to Word 2013. How do I open more than one document in the same window? I want to be able to close a document without closing the window itself. Thanks.

Unfortunately, in Word 2013, you are no longer given the option to switch betwen SDI and MDI. SDI (= each document in its own window) is the default and it can't be customized. See http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/subs.../cc178954.aspx (Changes in Office 2013).
