Default How can endnote markers be formatted?

I want to be sure that the endnote markers in the text and in the list of notes are sufficiently readable in a printed book. I have noticed that in some examples they are nearly too light and too small to read.

How can I do that globally in my manuscript?

I use MS Word 2000.

Thanks!
