strange grayed out line prevents copying or deletion after endnotes
I use MS Word 2000 on a PC.
I have a book manuscript of about 60000 words with endnotes. Something happened when I added pages to the doc after the endnotes for a bibliography. Now there is a grayed out line on top of each page beginning on the first page of the endnotes, and I can't add a line break or even copy and paste the added pages into a new doc or delete them. What's wrong? Last edited by Charles Kenyon; 02-09-2014 at 12:09 PM. Reason: added endnotes to message heading |

Based on your description, my guess is that you have added content inside the endnote area, meaning that the line you see is the endnote continuation separator.
For the correct way to add content after the endnotes, see http://word.mvps.org/faqs/formatting/footnotefaq.htm.
