Default "Save As" default location

My WORD Mac 2008 is defaulting to my "Documents" folder every time use the "Save As" function.

The program never used to do this. It began when I re-loaded Office for Mac after a new hard drive was installed.

Historically, when I hit "Save As" the window would open for me to re-name the document and it would default to save it in the folder I had opened the document from.

However, now the original folder name flashes very briefly and then the folder changes to "Documents"

This is inconvenient because, in general I want to save the re-named document (it is usually a revision or update) in the same folder and the original document.

Not to mention the fact that it is disturbing to find my programs all of a sudden changing how they operate
