Default picture shapes in word 2010

In Word 2007 there is a picture shapes feature. I undersand that to do the same thing in 2010 you need to use the crop tool dropdown. I am trying to help a friend who has 2010 and there is no drop down with the crop tool. How do I correct this.

That is not what I want to do. I want to change the shape of the picture

I am probably the wrong person to be helping because I seldom edit pictures in my word processing program. I use a graphics program (currently SnagIt) for that.

However, the first link is to instructions on using the Crop tool in Word 2010.
Please go to that page:
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/wo...010355164.aspx

Look for the section on Crop to a Specific Shape.
In the drop down under the Crop button you will see the choice to "Crop to Shape." If that is chosen, you are given a choice of shapes.

The alternative is to first insert the shape and then fill it with the picture.

Thank you for all of your suggestions. The problem I am having is that there is no drop down in the crop tool so I cannot select picture shapes. How do I correct that?

… which is, in general, the best way to edit graphics :-} I prefer to edit graphics outside the word-processor; also, to risk the Link option when inserting the graphics so that editing the graphic again externally updates the copy in the Word file.
