word 2003 "find" not working, tried restarting of course
I have searched online to repair my "find" tool, but cannot follow some of the directions for a fix since I guess my version doesn't have the updated features to activate in later versions of Word. Is anyone familiar with (Word 2003) how to fix this problem: the "find" in an open document doesn't produce a window to type a word to find the the respective document. I use "find" often in my research writing and this is annoying to say the least.

It is possible that the Find window was dragged off your screen some how.
What happens when you use Ctrl+H instead of Ctrl+F? Are you launching Find from the Edit menu? If in your document you can see a term and press Ctrl+F, then type the first three letters of the term and press the Enter key, what happens? |

The reason I know this is because it happened to me, too, with a different toolbar or dialog box. I got help on the web and am glad I'm able to give you the benefit of that [painful] experience.
