Scan and edit doc in windows using Office 2000 on Windows 8
I have tried suggests I found elsewhere but cannot figure out how to set up the feature that lets me edit docs that have been scanned. As the title says,I am using word from Office 2000 in Windows 8.
thanks, Karen |

Scanning is the equivalent of taking a photo of a document, and Word is not a photo editor. What you will need to do is find a program such as Acrobat Professional* that lets you extract the text from the scan. Then you can put the text into a Word file and adjust it as required. Depending on the quality of the original document, this can be a fairly tricky operation … Good luck!
* assuming the result of the scan is a .pdf; I don't know what you'd be best off with if the scan is in another format |

First, an eNGiNe said, you need to change your picture into words. Chances are your scanner comes with OCR software that will do this.
On a separate matter, it is my understanding that Word versions before Word 2007 do not run on Windows 8. See Knowledge Base Office 2003 applications are not compatible with Windows 8. Compatibility checker: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/windo...stRequested=14 I've seen people claim that they can run Word 2003 in a virtual computer on Windows 8 Pro. |

Word 2000 hasn't been supported by MS for some years now and, according to MS, is not compatible with Windows 8. Although you may be able to get Word 2000 to run on Windows 8, doing so may break other aspects of the system...
