How to use an ActiveX Control to insert a multi select listbox in Word
Hello, there,
I have tried to go down the Userform VBA route, but, alas! I'm a novice and I really need to get this done. I would like to have in my Word document a listbox that is clicked upon by the user. A preset list of sentences comes up in a list. Each with a checkbox next to them on a separate line. The user checks which sentences he or she would like to use and the listbox is then replaced by the user's selection. In my template there would be 17 different listboxes, each with an entirely separate set of sentences for the user to choose from. Can anyone help me out??? I'm stuck I've attached a sample of two lists that I would like to have turn into listboxes as examples. The user must be able to make MULTIPLE selections. Thanks, Mark |

Well a userform is the best way to go, but...
Start with some editing of the sentences. It is utterly impossible to have all that text in a displayed box. Find some way of making the text shorter, at least for display purposes. if that is not acceptable, the only practical way I can see is your tables as they are. Put a checkbox into each row. The user checks what they want. Then a procedure goes through and removes the rows without a check. Then convert the table to text. Alternative: a series of inputboxes with the text of each sentence. Click yes, it is included. Click no, do not include it. But doing the full text in listboxes is not really doable. |

Checkboxes or Userforms
Thanks for the reply. The users would be able to identify the sentences by the first seven or eight words. They use them over and over again, so visibility of the entire text would not be necessary.
That all being said, sorry for being such a newbie, how would I go about creating a "procedure" to remove the unchecked rows and convert the remaining ones to text? If a userform is the best way to go, how involved is it? I've read Greg Maxey's page on userforms, but I get stuck. ANY help you could provide would be really appreciated. Thanks again, Mark |
