Irregular results using Table of Figures
I am able to create a caption under a figure, insert a cross reference of that numbered figure but when I create/update the Table of figures, this figure is not found.
In another post that I can't find to close, I noted that in another master file that the insert caption does not always (1) place the caption inside a box, (2) does not always get recognized in the Update table process an (3) the insert caption is stuck and repeats the last number.. I've changed format style to simple and am wonder what my next step might be. TIA JP |

Does "master file" mean that you are using Word's master document feature? In that case, most likely your master document is corrupt. The feature isn't reliable, unfortunately. See http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/general/wh...ocscorrupt.htm.

No longer! I suspect I created a problem when I copied text into the created caption box "Figure 9 " . The text might have been a header style. I started a new file being careful to select style features prior to attempting to insert a caption. The new Table of contents updates nicely. Thanks for the response JP
