Can't achieve FULL JUSTIFICATION alignment in Word
Hi
In the document I've attached, I want to achieve Full Justification alignment. My limitations are that I cannot add or delete the content in each row. I've tried the following but to no success.
I've used gurbaniakharthick.ttf font (available free on google search). Kindly assist. |

Your sample document has multiple paragraph breaks and you can't justify across paragraph breaks. However Ctrl-Shift-J will force each line to occupy the full print width.

Hi, I used paragraph breaks to move content to the next row. Is there a way to move content to the next row without paragraph breaks and then justify it?

Is there a reason you can't simply delete the paragraph breaks?

if I understand your question correctly you are asking why I cannot remove breaks and move content up to make the Ctrl+shift+J work?
The document is a part of the holy scripture of the Sikhs 'Guru Granth Sahib' and content in a single row replicates the contents in the row of the original version. |

Sorry about cross posting. Didn't think that deep into its implications. Promise not to repeat that. Thanks for making me aware.

Removing paragraph breaks has nothing to do with the use (or otherwise) or Ctrl-Shift-J.
FWIW, if you want to maintain line alignments, you'd probably do better to use a two-column table, with separate table rows for each 'line'.

Thanks for reply. I see where you're going with the suggestion but Sorry, why do I use a 2 column table and not one column?
And is there a way to automatically convert all rows with paragraph breaks into rows of the table? |

The reference to a 2-column table was on the assumption you're doing an interlinear translation; one column would be for the original language and the other for the translation. If that's not what you're doing, you may not need a table at all.

Oh ok. I'm not translating anything. So everything from the original scriptures is typed up as is and my task is to ensure content of every row on every page of MS Word is the same as the original and Justified alignment.

Unless you're using the same:
• font & font version; • font point sizes; • printer driver - and print driver settings; • page, header/footer & margin dimensions; • paragraph & line spacing, the original used, your chances of faithfully replicating the original format are remote.

Justification of text is a paragraph formatting attribute. You can't change the justification of less than a paragraph. You can change interparagraph line spacing (space before/after) so that it looks no different from the line spacing within a paragraph.
You can use distributed text (Ctrl-Shift-J) to stretch text between paragraph indents. Alignment / Justification of Text in Microsoft Word Distributed text treats everything in a line including spaces and punctuation as a character. Note, the justification is between paragraph indents, not between margins. Fine-tuning of the appearance of text throughout a manuscript is best done by use of Styles to maintain consistency. |

Thanks for explaining how Justify works. So, looks like with the options available in Word I can't achieve what I aim for. However would that be possible if there is a macro that inserts an extra space between words in that row until the paragraph indent reaches the margin?
So 1. Start from left. Insert extra space after first word 2. Go to end of row, check if paragraph break is in line with the margin. If yes, proceed to next row and repeat step 1. Else 3. Put extra space after 2nd word in first row and repeat the check. How is this idea? Can you help write a code for that? |
