Default How do you turn on/off the word suggestions?

I'm trying to help someone on another forum.

He's using a Word 2013 on a new Dell Venue 8 Pro, and says that he when he misspells a word, he gets the red squiggle, but he doesn't get a "pick a word" box of possible words displayed above the word he's typing.

I have a new Venue 8 Pro, and tired it. As I typed, suggested word popped up in a box.

I couldn't find any way to turn this off without killing the spell checker.

The weird part is, I also have Word 2013, on my Desktop computer, and it doesn't show the suggested word list. I can't find any way to turn in on.

I looked for the answer everywhere, but nothing helps.

So how do you turn this feature on and off?

I never knew of a "pop-up box" suggesting word alternatives in any version of Word. However, I do know of a Spelling and Grammar option that provides word alternatives when using the "Review" tab and the Spelling & Grammar option.

Hope this helps...

This is what I'm talking about. I tried to get a screen capture from my tablet, but it didn't work out, so I got a screen capture from a YouTube video on my Desktop.

As he types a word, a boxed list of anticipated words appear below the word he is typing. You can click on a word from the list to select it. This feature is turned on in Word 2013 in my tablet, but not in Word 2013 on my desktop. It's also not turned on in the tablet of the person I'm trying to help. I can't find any info on how to turn it on or off after hours of Googleing.

This can be seen in the video for a few seconds at around 8:49: Dell Venue 8 Pro Windows tablet review - YouTube

I suspect that this is NOT a feature of Word at all but rather of the keyboard app on the tablet. This looks like the autocorrect on my Android Tablet, which does not have Word.

I think you are on to something.
When using the tablet, if I switch to the more standard looking "on screen" keyboard, instead of the default "touch screen" keyboard, the word prediction feature goes away.

I'll check with the guy I'm helping, and see which keyboard he is using.

Thanks!
