Hi folks,
I need to split a document in to two parts, but keep the numbering, heading numbers and contents page as if it was a single doc. My instinct is to use the subdocuments function; can anybody think of a better way? Thanks George |

Sometimes your instincts can do you a disservice. Do NOT use the Master Documents "Feature" if you value your work. Read the linked page first. It gives some alternatives.

Followup comment...
Why do you need to split the document? Word will handle very large documents pretty well. If yours is slowing your computer down, consider investing in more RAM. This will be much cheaper in the long run than spending your time dealing with the problems of multiple files and should speed up your computer use considerably. |

Thanks Charles I'll have a look at the alternatives. I'm only splitting it up to fit it through a small procurement portal.
