Default Prevent users from changing - align text

I have a lot of cells in my document, where the text in all the cells are aligned to the center.

Is it possible to prevent the user from changing the align position, so that the text can not be moved to the left or right ?

I have protected most of my document, but I can't find the option to lock this feature.

You could put that text into a plain text content control, with a centred paragraph format.

It does not seem to work for me - or maybe I'm doing it wrong. I found the Text Content Control under Developer, so I guess I found the right one.

If the user hits backspace/delete as the first thing, the alignment will go to the left side, and not stay in the center of the cell.

That suggests you marked the entire cell as an exception, rather than just the content control within it.

It does not help me. Tried it, but with out any luck. The text stills align to the left if I hit backspace.

Did you re-apply the editing restrictions?

See attached.

Your doc works just like I want mine to do, but I just can't get it to work. Some where in the process, I'm missing a step I'm pretty sure.

I have made all these cells, added the text content control to some of the cells, aligned them to the center. Marked those cells that I still want to be able to write text in (those with the content control elements) and then locked the document.

I have followed this guide -

1 On the Review tab, in the Protect group, click Restrict Editing.
2 In the Editing restrictions area, select the Allow only this type of editing in the document check box.
3 In the list of editing restrictions, click No changes (Read only).
4 Under Exceptions, select the Everyone check box in the Groups list.

Thanks for your help so far

I think that's where you've gone awry. To enforce the centring, you can't mark the range of cells - you need to mark each content control individually, being sure to exclude the cell marker and, if you have a paragraph break after the content control, that too, in each case.

I think I miss something about the align restriction. I can't find anywhere to set the option, that the user are not allowed to change the alignment. I'll try to make a video tomorrow, showing what I do and not do.

But thanks so far

There is no 'align restriction'. All I've done is to apply the editing Exception to the content control, making sure to not include the end-of-cell marker. If you don't have Word's formatting display turned on, do so - it's toggled by the ¶ symbol on the Home tab.

It seems to work now I have to test it some more, but it looks good so far

My problem was, that I added the restriction to the cells berfore I added the content control elements.

First put the content control elements into the cells, select only the content control elements and then add the restriction to the cells

Thanks you so much )
