Default How to set the first line indent setting as desired in MS WORD 2007

Dear Sir,

I want to set the BIBLIOGRAPHY reference as we desire. If we type the number with text after the number for biblography reference. If we select the double click on the indent and select "FIRST LINE" and set 0.4" . The first line is moving along with the number. But I want to retain the number as it is, where it is.After the number text only , I need to move. But it is not possible for me when I select the first line in the paragraph indent. How to the first line only after the number in the BIBLIOGRAPHY reference. Below images I have shown (1) First line indent cursor(it shows the cursor, from where the text moving right side) (2) Result after selecting first line,if we have the cursor after number in the bibliography. But including the number first line is moving.
My question is, first line I need to move after the number [17] . First_line_indent_cursor_position.jpg

I'm not sure I understand exactly what your question is, but I suspect that what you want is a called a "hanging indent." Your number is followed by a tab to start your text. You want the text on the next line to line up with the text on your first line.

The keyboard shortcut for this is Ctrl+T.

Charles Kenyon Sir,
Exactly, what you understood, that is correct.Yes I want the text on the next line to line to line up with the text on your first line.My number is followed by a tab to start my text. I want to move first line text using "hanging indent" without moving number.

Charles Kenyon Sir,
I tried with the CTRL+T. The text is moving second line onwards, first line is not all changing. Only I want to move the text after the number in the first line.

Press the Tab key after the number. There is a tab set at the same place as the new indent.

After you have pressed Ctrl+T, look at the settings on the Ruler.

By the way, this setting is built into automatic numbering, or can be. See How to create numbered headings or outline numbering in Word 2007 and Word 2010.

When you use numbering, properly attached to styles, you do not type the number, or press the Tab key, that is automatic, as is the placement of the text.
