Default Page footers have started

Hello,

I have page footers that have started adding an unnecessary "-1" 2 additional characters for the page numbers in the page footers:

Here is what the Section 3-1 header page looks like - it's a style that automatically generates the appropriate "Section X-Y" for you. It looks the same as Section 2-1 as far as I can tell:

I think what's happening is that the document is using the "3-1" as the Module number, when the Module number should just be "3". Does anyone know what causes the incorrect page numbering to happen, and how to fix it?

I have also gone to the page number format screen, and nothing I change there helps:

I tried changing the "Chapter starts with style" style value, but that didn't change anything either. Changing any of the values on this screen does not solve the problem.

I also have a side-by-side comparison of two section headers, one behaving incorrectly (2-4) and one behaving incorrectly (3-1). They don't seem different from each other though.

I will note that if I delete the "Section 3-1" header that's shown in grey, the page number correctly reverts to 3-3; if you add the section header back in using the Style circled in red on the right of the screenshot, the page number incorrectly becomes 3-1-3 again.

But if I delete the "Section 2-4" header that's shown in grey, the page number correctly stays as 2-28; if you add the section header back in using the Style circled in red on the right of the screenshot, the page number correctly stays as 2-28 again.

If you want to get rid of the "chapter/page" page numbers, clear the "Chapter starts with style" option in the Page Number Format dialog box, for each Word section. Then update the table of contents.

Thanks for your reply Stefan. Your suggestion isn't what I wanted to accomplish (What I want is for the pages to appear like all the Chapter 2 pages here: http://i.imgur.com/GLqbzzk.png), but after playing with the page number format page, I realized that that window only affects the "active" chapter you have selected. I thought that window, if you changed it, affected the entire document, but it only affects your "current" chapter selected. This is why when I was changing it earlier (I probably had chapter 1 or 2 active at the time), that window was not producing the results I wanted.

Basically, the culprit was "Chapter starts with Style:" option. Once I modified that on chapter 3, it was fine.

Indeed, the Page Number Format dialog box is section-specific, which isn't at all obvious in the user interface. In addition, the settings for a caption label apply to the whole document (which may add to the confusion).
