It's really quite easy - when you know how! Simply click on the Paste button's dropdown arrow, then on the 'overwrite cells' option.

If I can just get this right - I should not post something in these forums if I have posted somewhere else in the world

Got it!

That wont work - Word has the inclination to paste a table within the table, often the rows/columns are not aligned - Done this million times (successfully and unsuccessfully with simple copy/paste) and doesn't need paste special options and these certainly will not overcome the issue i am posting about - I think it's a bug which MPVs tend not to acknowledge (so I dont expect an answer on MS Answers) - Maybe incompatibility between difference versions of Word and the way they handle tables

I think my answer is just create table with few 100 extra rows and just delete un-used rows (with any version of word) after I have finished

Not when you use the method described.

Well, if your data aren't aligned, how do you expect Word to 'know' your intention?

If you're referring to MVPs, I'd suggest you be a little more considerate. Neither I nor any other MS-MVP works for Microsoft or has an interest in defending it from justified criticism or of pretending bugs are something else. Indeed, if you look around, you'll find plenty of MS-criticism from MVPs.

Whatever works for you ...

Ah, so the problem as now evidenced in a different document is rather different from what it was said to be here ...
