I have a manuscript in word. I am currently using 2010 with windows 8. I have tried many ways to convert the document into MOBI format. I've tried converting it straight to MOBI format, tried converting it to pdf and then to MOBI format and a number of other attempts.

In each case I get some odd results. Most of the time the ends of paragraphs get cut off once the document is converted to MOBI. I don't mind paying for reliable software or perhaps a third party service to convert the document. Does anyone have any advice on how to successfully convert word documents to MOBI?

The Kindle Previewer available from http://www.amazon.com/kindleformat/kindlepreviewer is the best tool to convert to the MOBI format.
The Kindle Previewer accepts ".html" files as input. You stand your best chances with that format unless you already have an EPUB version of your eBook.
