Default Cannot Double Click on Microsoft Word Document

I am using Microsoft Office Word 2007. I have this error where it says " A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify if a solution is available." I cannot double click on any Microsoft Word Document to open. I need to go inside Microsoft Word and drag the document to open. And I cannot click inside the document inside when I am inside. I can only use the keyboard cursor to move left and right in the document. This is causing me a lot of inconvenient. Any solutions to this?
