You go with what you know best. I do have Publisher and Power Point on my machine, but I use Word almost exclusively, and rarely run into a problem, while not having much experience with either Publisher or PP. Its clearly time to look into Publisher. |

Go to Page Layout>Page Borders>Apply To. Select the 'first page' option.

BTW, I am not saying never use textboxes, just unless you really are careful using them for all your layout is asking for trouble. This is because Word is not a layour application, it is a word processor.

My sincerest thanks to one and all for solving this problem. I now have a complete two-page form which will satisfy my web administrator's requirements for a single attachment to an email posting. I also learned that, even though I know Word fairly well, it should not be used for layouts because of its inherent limitations.

I wouldn't go that far. Rather, you need to understand how Word works (and its limitations) to make the most of what it offers. Many professional-looking publications have been produced with Word.

I would agree. Word is a powerful application and can produce top-notch documents. It does have its limitation and it is NOT a layout application. If you work within those limitation (primarily the fact that it does not do pixel level placements very well), then you can do a lot.

I also found myself boxed in when using text boxes; I couldn't get the cursor past the last box. The easiest way I found around the problem was:
1. Open a new document 2. Hold down the "enter" key; the cursor will move down the screen, creating blank space (I needed 4 pages of blank space, I created 6 just in case). 3. On the original document, select and copy everything. 4. Go to the new document, place the cursor at the beginning, and paste in the old. You are now free to type around the document. Hope this helps. |

Page borders are a section setting, not a page setting.
