Default Build a document from a set of standard paragraphs by using a tick list to select tho

I have enabled the ‘Developer’ ribbon but I am sorry I don’t know anything about how to accomplish what I need in MS Word and so I may well be asking a lot, but could you advise if it is possible to do the following:
I would like to build a document from a suite of standard paragraphs by pulling certain ones into a single MS Word document.
Within the build doc I would like to associate a title with each paragraph that lives in a single separate source word document or if easier have each of the source paragraphs in a separate individual word file within a folder.

Within the build document there would be a ‘tick’ list of paragraph titles.
When a box next to a paragraph title is ticked that paragraph is sucked into the document. Space automatically created for it. The paragraphs build based on the boxes ticked. If a box is un-ticked the paragraph is deleted.
It would be nice if a subsequently deleted paragraph also took the associated number of blank lines out, but if this is difficult then the user can just delete any excess lines.
Also once the source paragraphs have been pulled in the author may need to edit the text to customise it slightly.
When the document is complete the tick list could remain in place as part of the document if this is easier than working out a way of hiding it.
The document will be converted to pdf at the end in order to ‘fix it’ and so leaving the tick boxes on show wouldn’t be a problem.
The idea is to effectively automate what would otherwise be achieved by a laborious cut and paste exercise.
It would be really appreciated if you could give me some brief advice on how best to achieve the above. I was also thinking about drop down lists, but after some thought I prefer the tick box approach if at all possible.
Could you point me to some tutorial material on something like this?
Many thanks

Some thoughts.

Use a userform with checkboxes. Use multiple pages on the userform if you have a lot of choices.

When an OK button is clicked logic determines what checkboxes are checked and then either:

a) inserts the appropriate content as building blocks in the template
OR
b) pulls the content from bookmarks in the reference document

The paragraphs build based on the boxes ticked. If a box is un-ticked the paragraph is deleted.
The first sentence can be done with the above...BUT...the second sentence is problematic. The only way to way to logically link the inserted content back to the checkboxes is to bookmark the inserted content. It can be done but it adds a much deeper level of complexity.

I do not know what you mean by that. What "associated blank lines"? Why would there be any blank lines?

Default Thanks

Thank you very much for both your replies. I will have a go with your suggestions …. Fingers crossed.
Ref the taking out blank lines, I thought that maybe deleting a paragraph would leave the lines that it occupied in place and that these ‘blank’ lines would then need to be deleted. I guess from the fact my question didn’t make sense that when you delete the paragraph you also delete the lines ……if you know what I mean? Problem of being a beginner at all this …sorry.
Thanks again for your really quick responses.

I would suggest that you also spend a few minutes reading the following article (with all of its pages). It will get you up to speed quickly.

I concur with Charles. You will be MUCH better off if you have a deeper grasp of how Word works, both its limitations and its wonderful power. You can do a lot with Word but it is not magic.

Start smallish. Your request (in its entirety) is not trivial. You have not stated what is your experience level. Perhaps a simple userform that inserts ONE chuck of text where you want it as a test. And DO test!!!!

Definitely read the link to using boilerplate, which is what you are asking about.

Thank you both for your input which is really appreciated. Through the links you supplied I have come across a couple of references to boilerplate packages – add ins for Word. If you have any further knowledge / experience of such packages could you possibly suggest one that has the potential to do what I need.
I can obviously research this but there is nothing like a fast track referral to something that someone else has already successfully used. If you know of a package that you rate then please let me know.
Kind regards, Peter

Sorry, I haven't used them and it has been years since I've looked at them in any depth. I can tell you that anything from Bill Coan, Chris Deverell, Greg Maxey or Graham Mayor is first-rate.

Thank you. I have gone for Autodoc from Chris Deverall, it looks like it is exactly what I need and as you say if I need more advanced features I think he will be able to help. I have already needed to ask a few questions and I have received a quick response.
Kind regards
Peter
