Paul,

Thanks for your reply. But the behavior that I'm experiencing does not match what you say is the design. Here's exactly what happens:

1. I bring up a word document and click on the Home tab. It becomes active and the various commands and options become available (cut, paste, etc.).

2. As soon as I click in the document Home becomes inactive. No tab is active at this point and, if I want to use any of the functions in the Home tab, I must click on it to re-activate it.

I did this while I wrote this message to be sure I provided exact detail.
