Setting a default font for all domian users
Hi Guys
Im an IT Technician in a school in essex and i've been asked if it is possible to set a default font size and style across all users. i've tried coping the normal.dotm template file which i've changed the font and size under my user account to another user account, It does work, the font settings have transferred across but now i get 'macros have been disabled' bar and when i try to enable content in the document i get a file in use error. I can then tell word to open a read only copy then i can work like normal. Only problem with this is that if it where to happen on all users we would have no end of queries regarding read only, macros errors etc. My question is really is it possible to set a default font and size for all users. if so what is the best way of doing this? Any ideas will be much appreciated. Ryan Bates |

Look into something called "policies." I really don't know much about that, just that it exists and would probably do what you want.
Normal, itself, should normally not be shared, but a school environment might be an exception to that rule. What you have run into is Word detecting the installation of an external file. Are your computers on a network? If so, one other possibility would be a login file that would copy normal.dotm from a central location. |
