Word 2010 - Keeping the Track Change Settings Permanent
Hi everyone,
Hope you are doing well So this seems to happen over & over again. I have my TC settings set a certain way. I like the deletions in a bubble off to the right margin, but when someone sends me their own file they started, the TCs are set to be crossed out. I assume this is their own settings. I don't want to have to constantly reset this for every doc. How do I keep it permanent? Thanks Michelle |

AFAIK track changes are a document level setting, that is, it is set for each document. I could be wrong, as I do not use track changes. But if it is a document level setting then it will behave as you have seen it. A document coming from others will not use your settings.
Or...it could be an application level setting but other people's documents ignore it. Which would be unusual, but not unheard of. Question: if you have a new document with TC OFF, and you have had a document with your settings, when you turn TC ON, do those settings persist and show in the new document? I mean without you having to change them. |

Yeh I figured it was b/c their settings are different.
I know that in 2003 if I got a file from them with TC in it, mine would automatically turn on, but I think in 2010 they stopped that. I wasn't clear on your question. When you say "new doc" do you mean something I created or someone else created? Honestly I think I even came across a new file I created that didn't have my TC settings, but I can't remember now. If that's the case, that's terrible. It should be file wide this change, just like when you change the font & set it as a default. |
