How to interchange from numbered bullets to bullets
Hi,
I've had this problem before, & would love to know how to solve it. I sometimes use bullets in the middle of a set of numbered bullets & it ends up screwing up the numbered bullets changing them all to bullets. Please help. Thanks Michelle |

Hi,
Ok, so this must be instructions for some other version of Word b/c I'm not seeing where you put the name or the formatting (according to the instructions). I've attached a SS of what I see in my Word. Thanks Michelle |

Yes. That link is for the version of Word you said you were using, 2010.
If you look at the top of the page, it gives a link to the related page for earlier versions: How to control bullets in Microsoft Word 2000, 2002 and 2003 Oops, senior moment. I thought your screenshot was from Word 2003. Last edited by Charles Kenyon; 11-04-2013 at 05:29 PM. |

You clicked on the wrong choice. You clicked on "Define new multilevel list" and want to click on "Define new list style."
Sorry for the previous mis-step about the Version. |

Ok, found my mistake.
So I added the 3 list: 1.
I even got it attached to my quick launch toolbar, but then I got stuck. 1. when I click on the icon it brings up the button with all 3 lists. It doesn't give me a choice of which one to pick. 2. I got the first sentence started, but then the 2nd sentence I can't get a 2. next to it. I've tried everything. 3. I did delete the other bullets I originally used manually, but I didn't delete all of them. I don't know if that's the issue or what. I deleted enough to start at the top & work my way down, but it's not working for me. Thanks Michelle |

When defining a list style set, you need to start at level 1 and define for each level down to the level you want to change. I generally define all 9 levels because that is how I am.
I do not know that this is where you are running into problems, but it is the most frequent error people make. What are you attaching to the QAT? How? Why are you not putting it in the Quick Styles Gallery? Control the Quick Styles gallery on the Home Tab Last edited by Charles Kenyon; 11-05-2013 at 08:51 AM. |
