Default Adobe OCR-created Word doc

I converted a .pdf to a Word doc thru Adobe.
Some graphics come thru as an object which I cannot select, delete, change etc. - it is just there and I need to just delete it.

Any insight into this phenomenon?
Thanks!
Ron

Try opening the header and seeing if it's on this background layer.

I looked at Header and Footer and saw nothing. Removed both anyway. No effect.

Not sure how to help. How a document is converted depends on several settings. Also, bear in mind that the pdf itself may have been made from a doc in which the graphics were part of pages that had been copied as images, in which case you have no way to edit the images out now, save using a snipping tool such as Windows' own or a 3rd party application (Snaggit, etc.)

Default OCR Graphics

Some of the graphics/objects that I was referring to were definitely part of the entered material and not on the original form.
Originals are not available, thus this conversion project.
It seems to be possible to just overlay these with my own object so maybe I can do that.

Thank you.
Ron

If you can post part of the document (if it's not proprietary), I can take a look and see if I can suggest anything that might serve you better. I'm not sure pasting over is the best way to go; if you do, be sure to lock your image anchors (on the position tab of the image formatting dialogue).

That's very kind of you.
I have attached the .docx I am working with.
There are a few graphics in it all of which have the same problem.

Many thanks!

I opened your file, then saved it as html – the result, as hoped for, included a subfolder with graphics, but (even with the Filtered option) the code is so densely laden with Wordery this didn't get me very far. Next option, ruthlessly: save as plain text: graphics gone, and clean content ready for formatting and spell-checking. You could then reinsert the graphics that Word saved out into the subfolder, though the quality is not ideal:-} artefacts (speckles) as though line drawings had at some stage been saved as .jpg.

The adage used to be, "trying to get a source document out of a .pdf is like trying to get a chicken out of chicken soup". <g>

Saving as text is a good idea, and I will do that.
These graphics I can re-create myself.
The docs she had at the Learning Center I am helping out were all copies, and copies of copies so there is indeed a lot of junk hanging around.
Many thanks.
I should have thought of that!

Try the following macro - it will delete all graphics while leaving your other formatting alone.
Code:
Sub DeleteGraphics()
Application.ScreenUpdating = False
Dim Rng As Range
With ActiveDocument
  For Each Rng In .StoryRanges
    With Rng
      While .InlineShapes.Count > 0
        .InlineShapes(1).Delete
      Wend
      While .ShapeRange.Count > 0
        .ShapeRange(1).Delete
      Wend
    End With
  Next
End With
Application.ScreenUpdating = True
End Sub

Well, by golly, that macro mostly worked!
I had to go back and do some manual cleaning up, but the objects that I could not remove are gone based on this macro.

Now I have two good approaches!
Thank you both very much!

I'm not sure what you mean by 'mostly' worked - all of the graphics in the document should have been deleted. If there are other objects that weren't deleted, post a document containing a representative sample and I'll see what can be done about those.
