Word has this (for me) irritating feature of making paragraphs with numbers in front of them.
Say 3.2 the next paragraph, makes the first one gets indented, and then we get 3.3 or whatever. I want just simply to do it all myself as it is far easier to copy a manual they sent me. How can I get rid of the automatic feature in Word for this? Many thanks Mark ![]() |

Turn off the AutoFormat As You Type setting which converts typed numbers auto numbers. In the Options dialog box, click Proofing | AutoCorrect Options and look at the AutoFormat As You Type tab. I'm afraid I can't give you any specific instructions for MacWord, since I only use WinWord.

I expect Stefan's instructions will be sufficient. If not you may want to try this Word for the Mac forum.
