Default newbie question

This is probably a newbie question but -- if i have a document where someone else has inserted comments, and the comments have now been addressed, how do I erase the comments? I have deleted the comment text from the comment window but how do I remove the highlighting? I am running word 2004. If there is an easier fix than retyping the text please let me know!!!

Go to:

Tools > Track Changes > Show > untick all the boxes EXCEPT Final

That should do the trick!

Could you post a copy of the document for me to have a look at (please remove any personal/private info)? I'll see if I can work out what the problem is.

Sorry i did not follow up. Unfortunately the document was related to a patent I was co-authoring with 5 other research scientists. I could not post any of it without violating my non-disclosure btu I sincerely appreciate your help and apologize for not following up sooner.

Hi Dan,

Bird fat's advice doesn't delete the comments, though they can be hidden via Review|Tracking|Show Markup and unchecking the 'Comment' option. To delete the comments, simply click on any commented word, then choose Review|Comments|Delete > Delete all comments in document.
