Chapter numbering in word 2007
Hi,
I have an existing word 2007 doc that I want to insert hyphenated chapter numbering, such as 1-1, 1-2. What I've attempted to do is in multi level lists select the chapter one heading from the list and then set the page numbering under page number formatting. This gives me the correct page numbering 1-1, etc, but it leaves a "Chapter 1" title at the top of the document that I cannot edit. And if I delete it the page numbering reverts to regular single digits. Is there a way to keep the chapter type page numbering and edit or remove the "Chapter 1" title? Thanks, Derek |

You can format the list number for level 1 as hidden text. Click the actual list number for a Heading 1 paragraph (you'll notice that Word selects all numbers at that level in the list). Press Ctrl+Shift+H.
