Lost file recovery?

Hi,
Basically I'm doing a project for school, so I work on it at home as well as in school, so to do this I email myself the word document. Today, however, when I clicked on the word document in the email I just used the Open option rather than save or save as. I then proceeded with my project and clicked the save button in the top left hand corner of word and exit. Then when I go to email myself the edited document, I can't find it! I can't even find it on my computer.

Is there anyway I can find this document? Please help otherwise I have lost over an hours worth of work on it.

This issue comes up regularly. Do NOT Open attachments and work on files!

Please note the above is in regards to Outlook, but the situation is not restricted to Outlook. With Outlook there is a bit of a chance of finding the file.

Bottom line is NEVER open a file from an attachment. Always save to disk first.
